Gaithersburg's Environmental Film Night Goes Virtual: See '2024'

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The City of Gaithersburg's Environmental Film Night is going virtual.
This year's featured presentation is "2040," a hybrid feature documentary that explores the possibility that humanity could reverse global warning. Director Damon Gameau made the film to show his 4-year-old daughter an alternative future made possible by today's technologies.
"Adamant that this is not a utopian fantasy, but rather an exercise in 'fact-based dreaming,' he consulted experts in farming, aquaculture, civic design, transportation, and education during the making of the film. Along with the experts, 100 children from all around the world between the ages of six and eleven were asked what they wanted the future to look like. The answers were authentic, concerning, and hopeful," according to a city press release.
