Liquor Store In Gaithersburg Closes After 3 Workers Get COVID-19

A Montgomery County-run liquor store in Gaithersburg temporarily closes after three employees test positive for COVID-19.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Darnestown Liquor and Wine store in Gaithersburg is temporarily closed after three county employees tested positive for COVID-19, officials announced Monday.

One Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) employee tested positive for the virus on June 30, according to a county press release. The other two employees tested positive several days later.

The store was deep cleaned and sanitized, and was later closed "out of abundance of caution," the press release stated. All other employees have been put on paid administrative leave for two weeks.

Darnestown Liquor and Wine, at 12155 Darnestown Rd., is tentatively scheduled to reopen on July 20.
