Registration Opens October 1 for Winter Youth Sports
Winter offerings include basketball and volleyball.

Registration opens October 1, 2016 for Winter Youth and Teen Sports programs in the City of Gaithersburg. Winter offerings include basketball and volleyball. Gaithersburg Sports leagues offer one practice and one game per week, allowing youth and their families time for other activities. The City also offers Start Smartâ„¢ programs for 4 and 5 year olds in basketball. Start Smart is an international program designed to introduce youth, along with their parents, to the world of sports.
Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and some programs have limited space. The registration deadline is November 9. Start Smart programs are limited to the first 20 participants.

Registration fees for Youth Programs are $70, $55 for City of Gaithersburg residents. Registration fees for Teen Programs are $75, $60 for City of Gaithersburg residents. Registration fee for Start Smart is $65, $50 for City of Gaithersburg residents.

- Start Smart Basketball for Youth Ages 4 & 5 and Their Parents
- Hoop Dreams Instructional League Grades K – 2
- Basketball Boys and Girls Grades 3 – 6
- Teen Basketball Boys and Girls Grades 7 & 8
- Middle School Volleyball Boys and Girls Grades 6 – 8
- High School Volleyball Recreational League Boys and Girls Grades 9 – 12
- High School Volleyball Competitive League Girls and Boys/Coed Grades 9 – 12
A special registration night will be held at Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Rio Washingtonian Center on Thursday, November 3 from 4 to 8 p.m. All Gaithersburg Sports participants, whether registering that evening or having done so previously, can enjoy special discounts on equipment and apparel during the event.

The City is also seeking volunteer coaches for these sports programs. All volunteers who wish to coach for the City of Gaithersburg will go through a background check and will receive certification through the National Youth Sport Coaches Accreditation Program.
