Youth Invited to Strokes and Strides Event at Water Park
The swimming,running event is on June 3, 8-11 a.m. It is a noncompetitive program that introduces young athletes to the aquathon experience.

From the City of Gaithersburg: The City of Gaithersburg invites youth ages 7 through 14 to participate in its annual “Strokes and Strides” swimming and running event on Saturday, June 3, 2017, from 8 to 11 a.m. at Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm, next to Gaithersburg High School. Strokes and Strides in a noncompetitive program that introduces young athletes to the aquathon experience. Check-in is at the Water Park, located near the Skate Park, Miniature Golf Course and Activity Center at 512 South Frederick Avenue. The event will be held rain or shine.
This one-time swim and run event is divided into two age groups. Ages 7 through 10 will complete a 50-meter swim (any stroke) followed by a 1-kilometer run; ages 11 through 14 will complete a 100-meter swim (any stroke) followed by a 2-kilometer run. The running portion will take participants on a marked trail that winds through Bohrer Park. All participants will receive a completion award and a free one-day admission pass to the Water Park that can be used once during the 2017 season. A brief post-event celebration will be held at the park’s Hillside Pavilion.
Amazing Race Timing (ART) will provide their expertise and timing services at the event. ART is a premier race event timing company based out of Washington DC, providing timing services for events ranging from 5Ks to triathlons to cycling.

Registration is $30 per participant, $23 for City of Gaithersburg residents.
