Black Youth Suicide, Mental Health Discussion To Be Held June 2
Montgomery County will host a free online discussion about Black youth suicide and mental health challenges brought on by the pandemic.
GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County residents are invited to participate in an online discussion about Black youth suicide and mental health challenges during the pandemic on Wednesday, June 2.
The session is part of the county's ongoing series — "Wellness Community Events: Healing and Holding On - One Conversation at a Time for the Community" — which focuses on mental health and wellness issues brought on by the public health crisis.
The upcoming discussion will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tammy Blake, a licensed clinical social worker at the county's Department of Health and Human Services, will be the presenter.

- Statistics on Black youth suicide rates
- Signs and symptoms of suicidal ideation and mental health needs in youth
- Risk and protective factors for suicide in Black populations
- Attitudes and perceptions about suicide and mental health in Black communities
- Strategies and resources for Black youth and families to address mental health and suicide
