BlackRock Presents "Gordana Gerskovic: Texturescapes" Exhibit

Solo Exhibit Featuring Photographs of Textures Found in the Landscape

(BlackRock Center for the Arts)

BlackRock Center for the Arts presents Gordana Gerskovic: Texturescapes, an online exhibit featuring photographs of textures found in the landscape. Artist Gordana Gerskovic uses a macro lens to frame tight shots of worn and weathered surfaces found in the urban and rural landscape as she captures the abstract compositions in her photographs. Putting her camera very close to her subject, she explores her environment by focusing on the unexpected details and accidental patterns discovered while crouching on the pavement of a busy city street or wading through a stream in a wooded area near her home. In her solo exhibition, Gordana Gerskovic: Texturescapes, she presents a series of images that have been abstracted merely by selective cropping on location, rather than manipulation in the digital darkroom. Originally from Zagreb, Croatia, the mixed media artist first came to live in the U.S. in 1997 and is now a resident of Montgomery County, Maryland. Gerskovic’s award-winning work is in numerous private collections. This online exhibit, catalogue, and price list can be viewed at www.blackrockcenter.org/texturescapes until July 31.
