GERMANTOWN, MD — Halloween will look a little — scratch that, a lot — different this year.

And while Montgomery County health officials warn against trick-or-treating, calling it a "high-risk" activity during COVID-19, there are several other ways to celebrate the holiday safely.

One option: checking out the many Montgomery County homes decked out for Halloween.

This Boyds homeowner went all out. So if you're looking for a display that's equally festive and impressive, swing by Joanne Wachholder's house at 18120 Northern Dancer Lane.

Between 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, you can check out Wachholder's "Wacky Halloween Walk-Thru," which takes you all over her property. You'll find inflatable ghosts and witches, rows of glowing eyes and string lights, and a mini graveyard littered with fake bones.

The kid-friendly setup, Wachholder says, takes you through the front yard, along the side of the house, and into the backyard. At the end of the walk-thru, you'll exit through the side gate and circle back to the driveway.

Due to COVID-19, only one group can walk through the display at a time, and all visitors must wear face masks.

Wachholder said she is giving all donations to Germantown Help, an organization that provides delivered emergency food, prescription assistance, and holiday help to Germantown residents.
