Cherris May: Solo Exhibition of Recent Photographs

BlackRock Center for the Arts presents Cheriss May: A Solo Exhibition of Recent Photographs, a virtual exhibition on view from October 3 - November 28 at https://www.blackrockcenter.or.... May is a photographer and visual storyteller based in Washington, DC whose work centers on the intersection of political structures and the Black community, from historical figures to hidden figures. Her work has been published in O Magazine, Essence, Time, The White House Historical Association, The New York Times, Bloomberg, ESPN, and other international publications. May is the president of Women Photojournalists of Washington (WPOW), and co-chair of the photography committee at The National Press Club. May’s work is featured in the permanent exhibition: MFON's “In Conversation: Visual Meditations on Black Masculinity”, at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. She is an adjunct professor at Howard University and was selected by Adobe in 2019 as an education leader for her commitment to creativity in the classroom, and she trains and speaks to educators across the country. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the media industry, she is often commissioned to speak, and advise on diversification initiatives.
