Clarksburg Protest To Close Portion Of Route 355, Expect Delays
A part of Route 355 will shut down Sunday afternoon for a Black Lives Matter protest in Clarksburg, Montgomery County police said.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A portion of Route 355 will shut down Sunday afternoon for a Black Lives Matter protest in Clarksburg, Montgomery County police said.
The protest is slated to begin at Clarksburg High School around 2 p.m. Authorities say motorists should expect delays on Route 355 from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m.
TRAFFIC ALERT: Tomorrow (June 7) expect traffic delays on Rt. 355 in Clarksburg from 2:15 pm to around 4:30 pm. A planned march from Clarksburg HS on Rt. 355 to Rt. 27 will close Rt. 355 down during that time. Adjust accordingly. pic.twitter.com/2mWXe5iTaz

The demonstration follows more than a week of protests in Montgomery County and across the country over the death of George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who died in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day.

In a now-viral video, a handcuffed Floyd can be seen pleading for air as a white Minneapolis cop knelt on his neck for more than eight minutes. The officer, identified as Derek Chauvin, was later fired from his job and charged with third-degree murder.
