GERMANTOWN, MD — A deck on a Germantown townhouse collapsed Sunday night, causing injuries that sent six people to the hospital, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The deck on Walnut Cove Circle was likely overcrowded, Piringer said in a video posted to Twitter. People were grilling and eating when the deck collapsed. Nine people were treated by emergency response for injuries — six of those people were taken to the hospital. There were not any life-threatening injuries, Piringer said.

The building inspector has been notified, Piringer said.
