Ellen Cornett: Into the Woods - A Virtual Art Exhibit

Ellen Cornett: Into the Woods, is a virtual solo exhibit of drawings exploring themes of conflict, misunderstanding, and absurdity.

(Anne Burton, BlackRock Center for the Arts)

BlackRock Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the opening of the virtual exhibit, Ellen Cornett: Into the Woods. Working in carbon pencil, charcoal, colored pencil and pastel, Maryland artist Ellen Cornett creates surreal tableaux frequently referencing fairy tales, poems and rhymes. While the subject matter of each drawing varies widely, common motifs tie them together and make them seem like moments in one long, overarching plot. In her solo exhibition Ellen Cornett: Into the Woods, she presents a series of recent works where she manipulates familiar characters into mysterious vignettes exploring conflict, misunderstanding, and absurdity. The exhibit is viewable online from September 14 - October 31, 2020 and the artwork is available to purchase.
