Halloween is all about fun, dressing up and trick or treat. Each year americans buy 600lb of halloween candy. On an average 1 bag of candy=11,000 calories. Halloween candy is a sweet problem. Its ok to eat halloween candy, but it's important to have a plan.
Rinse with water after eating candy or sugary drinks. Eat a full meal before going out trick-or-treating. As it’s hard to resist snacking on candy when you’re hungry. Avoid sticky candy like taffy or caramel as they stay on your teeth for longer period of time and increase your cavity risk. Drink more water to flush away the sugary acids. Brush after every meal and get your teeth checked regularly by your dentist. Keep some of your favourite candy and donate the rest. Check locally your Halloween candy drop of locations.
Germantown Dental Service, will be collecting your extra candy which will be donated to Operation Gratitude. Call them at 301-972-5000 for more information and drop off hours.
