Man Murdered In Boyds, Attack Doesn't Appear Random: Police

A 23-year-old man was fatally shot in Boyds Tuesday. A $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the suspect's arrest.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Authorities say they have launched a homicide investigation after a 23-year-old man was fatally shot in Boyds Tuesday.

Montgomery County police said they received a call around 6:52 p.m. about a shooting in the 12900 block of Ethel Rose Way.

When officers arrived, they found a man lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, according to a press release. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities have identified the victim as Javon Jamal Gordon, of Ethel Rose Way.

A preliminary investigation by detectives determined that Gordon briefly interacted with a suspect, who was in a vehicle, before he was shot. The vehicle fled the scene before authorities arrived.

Police say they do not believe this was a random incident.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call police at 240-773-5070 or the county's Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
