Man Seriously Injured After Shooting At Vigil For Shooting Victim
A 21-year-old man is in serious condition after gunshots broke out at a vigil for a prior shooting victim in Germantown Tuesday night.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A 21-year-old man is in serious condition after gunshots broke out at a vigil for a prior shooting victim in Germantown Tuesday night.
The shooting occurred at about 8:13 p.m. at the intersection of Sage Way and Cinnamon Drive. Police received a call about an assault and multiple calls for the sound of shots.
The 21-year-old male victim arrived at the Germantown Emergency Center shortly after. Police believe he was driven there by an acquaintance from the Sage Way scene.

The shooting happened near the end of a vigil being held for shooting victim Genesis McCarter-Beretto, 18. McCarter-Beretto was killed at a prom after-party in Frederick early Sunday morning, police said.

"Detectives interviewed witnesses and are working to determine if the shooting may be related to the vigil," police said in a statement.
Tuesday's shooting victim is at a local trauma center in serious condition, police said.
