GERMANTOWN, MD — A Germantown middle school teacher was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography, authorities said.

Thirty-five-year-old Kevin Bremerman — a teacher at Roberto Clemente Middle School — was arrested following a months-long investigation by Montgomery County police.

Authorities said they began investigating Bremerman in January after receiving a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that he may be uploading child pornography through an instant messaging mobile app.

When investigators executed a search warrant at Bremerman's home, they found his cellphone — which they say contained numerous videos and photographs of child pornography.

Bremerman was subsequently arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography.

Police said the offenses did not involve students. They, however, remain "concerned due to the nature of these offenses and Bremerman's daily interactions with children."

He has been placed on administrative leave by Montgomery County Public Schools.

Bremerman began working for the school system in 2017. His first three years were spent at Goshen Elementary School in Gaithersburg, according to school officials.

In a letter to families, Roberto Clemente Principal Jeffrey Brown said that "MCPS is fully cooperating with law enforcement on this matter."

"These charges are deeply troubling and are a violation of the core values of our school and school system," Brown said. "This behavior does not reflect the principles of MCPS or our community and it will not be tolerated."
