MOCO Adoptable Pets: Rocky, Mama, Chico, Indy and Richard

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — This week, "Patch's Adoptable Pets of the Week" includes Rocky, Mama, Chico, Indy and Richard. These pets have been in the Montgomery County Animal Shelter for a while, and are still looking for forever homes.

Rocky

Name: Rocky - ID#A432573
Sex, Breed: Neutered male, blue Chinese Sharpei.
Age: Estimated to be 3 years old.
Rocky has been at the shelter since May 25, 2021.

Mama

Name: Mama - ID#A433186
Sex, Breed: Spayed female, gray American Pit Bull Terrier.
Age: estimated to be about 10 years old.
Shelter staff made these comments about this dog: Mama is wondering when you’re gonna come adopt her!Senior girl Mama is a total heart stealer! Just one look at her speckled grey face and you'll fall in love! She has a lot of spunk left for a senior, but is relaxed and mature enough that she could fit into any household. She loves chasing balls, getting pets and cuddles, and apparently the snow! Mama would be a great dog for a family with children, though she would prefer to be your only canine child.

Chico

Sex, Breed: Neutered male, tan American Pit Bull Terrier.
Age: estimated to be about 5 years old.
Shelter staff made these comments about this dog: Chico is such a model! He loves attention and playing with toys in the yard! Chico is a strong boy and makes for some very fierce tug-o-war competition. And he’s a great puller— We can already picture him mushing his future family up a hill to sled on snowy winter days. Chico knows "sit", "shake", and "down" commands and is eager to perform for treats!Chico is 5 years old and is waiting to be adopted by his forever family (or person)! He’s a big sweetheart who took a minute to come out of his shell at the shelter, but once he blossomed, we got to see just how big his personality is. If you’re looking for a LOT of fun, Chico is your guy. Chico is a little too interested in small prey animals, so we think he'd do best in a home without cats.

Indy

Name: Indy - ID#A461487
Sex, Breed: Neutered male, black Domestic Mediumhair.
Age: estimated to be about 11 years old.
Shelter staff made these comments about this cat: Indy is currently hanging out as an office cat. He is very social, solicits for attention, and LOVES to be brushed. Indy has a very low tolerance for petting/handling, though. Use a brush or toys with a wand/handle to engage with Indy versus using hands. Indy has small spurts of energy and attention seeking behavior, then the senior in him takes over and he spends most of the day relaxing close to his human office partner or sleeping in his chair or bed. Indy needs an adult-only home with folks willing to live as his royal subjects and follow his directions.

Richard
