Montgomery Parks Reopens Fields For Soccer Games: Sept. 14

Montgomery County will reopen its fields for soccer games and scrimmages on Sept. 14.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery Parks will reopen its fields for soccer games and scrimmages on Sept. 14, county officials announced Tuesday.

The county recently recategorized soccer from a high- to medium-risk sport. In order for soccer to proceed, people must adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All sports participants, regardless of age, must comply with the face covering requirement and social distancing and hygiene requirements.
  • Maximum of 50 people can be present, including staff, coaches, players, and parents, guardians, or immediate family.
  • Play and games with teams from outside of Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia is prohibited.

Only games and scrimmages are allowed in Montgomery County. All tournaments, championships, and events are strictly prohibited, unless a letter of approval is issued by the county.

Permits are available on www.ActiveMontgomery.org and www.parkpermits.org. They are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis and are required for use of any recreational or regional field.

Local fields can be used without a permit, but must be relinquished to permit holders.
