Registration Opens for BlackRock’s Virtual & Onsite Arts Program

Learning opportunities featuring virtual classes, including private lessons, and onsite, small group classes are available for everyone

Registration is open for the Fall 2020 Education Program at BlackRock Center for the Arts. Learning opportunities featuring virtual classes, including private lessons, and onsite, small group classes are available for people of all ages. BlackRock’s fall arts education program includes more than 36 offerings from beginner to intermediate courses and workshops in arts enriched literacy, dance and fitness, music, theater, and visual arts.

Several new classes and new teaching artists are featured in BlackRock’s fall arts education program including: “Vocal Lessons & Coaching,” with Deonté Warren, most recently seen in Broadway’s Aladdin; and “Lessons in Realistic Watercolor: Still Life,” with award-winning painter Matthew Bird; and private lessons in songwriting, guitar, ukulele, mandolin, and recording technology with Joshua Davis, a nationally touring musician and finalist on The Voice. Music classes are also available in piano, violin, and musical theater. BlackRock’s visual arts program includes classes for all ages in cartooning, drawing, and watercolor painting. Theater classes focus on improv, scriptwriting, acting, and performance skills. Dance classes in ballet for young children, teens and adults are offered at levels 1 through 6. Arts Enriched Literacy classes address handwriting skills, scriptwriting, and communication skills.

A variety of theater, visual arts, and dance classes will be held at BlackRock inside the BlackBox Theater and MainStage Theater in adherence to the center’s COVID-19 protocols.
