Son Fatally Shoots Mother At Clarksburg Home: Police

GERMANTOWN, MD — A 24-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of his mother, according to Montgomery County police.

Authorities said they were called to the home of Mary Ann Blackburn in Clarksburg around 2:42 a.m. on Jan. 4. The caller, identified by police as a family member, said he was awakened by the sound of gunshots and called 911 after discovering that David Blackburn, 24, had shot his 56-year-old mother.

When officers arrived, they found Mary Ann suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. She died at a local hospital.

David, who lived on Frederick Road with his mother, was charged with first-degree murder, court records show. He is scheduled to appear in Montgomery County District Court on Jan. 29.
