GERMANTOWN, MD — An 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for attempting to rape a woman inside her Germantown apartment building, authorities said.

Brian Valle, of Montgomery Village, has been charged with attempted first-degree rape, first- and second-degree assault, and indecent exposure, court records show.

The incident reportedly happened at the Briarcliff Terrace apartment complex on the evening of April 4. Montgomery County police said a woman had entered the front of her apartment building when the suspect — later identified as Valle — approached her.

According to authorities, Valle physically assaulted the woman and tried to sexually assault her. A neighbor, who heard her screaming, came to her aid — and the suspect fled on foot.

The woman was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Valle was taken into custody nearly three weeks later. He is currently being held without bond.
