Two Northwest High Students Hit By Car: Report

The two high school students were treated for non-life-threatening injuries after Monday's accident, says Northwest High principal.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Two Northwest High School students were hit by a car on Monday afternoon while crossing a road near the school, according to a media report. The school's principal said emergency responders took the unidentified students to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, Montgomery Community Media reported.

The accident occurred at 2:35 p.m. Monday, after classes were dismissed, as the students were crossing the intersection of Great Seneca Highway (Route 119) and Richter Farm Road, according to Principal Jimmy D’Andrea. Northwest High School is at 13501 Richter Farm Road in Germantown.

Pete Piringer, the chief spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service, tweeted that several lanes were blocked on Richter Farm Road, Cloppers Mill Drive and Great Seneca Highway as Montgomery County police and fire and rescue personnel responded to the accident.

Monday's accident was the second within a week in which county high school students were struck by a vehicle along a busy road. On Oct. 9, a car collided with another car on Georgia Avenue in Aspen Hill and then plowed into four student from John F. Kennedy High School as they were waiting for a school bus.

D’Andrea said Northwest High School is working with the police to review the accident and ensure that all students can walk to the school safely, Montgomery Community Media reported.
