GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County is challenging residents to take part in "Walktober" — a series of activities and virtual webinars in October that promote the state's official exercise: walking.
"We are proud to partner with fellow local and state agencies to promote 'Walktober,'" said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin. 'Walktober' is a great opportunity to highlight the benefits of walking and to acknowledge what more we can do in Maryland to make walking safer for everyone as we work together to achieve our Vision Zero goals."
Many of the events, which focus on pedestrian safety and healthier commuting options, will be held online due to COVID-19. Four, 90-minute webinars — or "walkinars" — are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursdays, Oct. 1, 15, 22, and 29. Click here to learn more about the virtual events.
