Only a few votes separated the winners.

Drumbeat please...

I promised you the results. And here they are — with a mind-staggering four votes, the Silver Diner won best breakfast spot in Greenbelt.

Generous Joe's came in second with one Greenbelter declaring it the greatest.

Silver Moon Café, Starbucks and McDonald's did not receive votes. But, truth be told, they only lagged a single vote behind the second place winner.

When determining how to present to you, I considered my options:

  • Put on a cheerleader skirt and declare it an exceptionally close race.
  • Write the story five times until it sounded like a story. Perhaps add some stunning facts, like, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.
  • Remember to forget to post the results.
  • Recognize the futility of options one, two and three.

On Monday, you'll get another "Best of" coming your way. This time it will be a face off between College Park, Greenbelt, Hyattsville, Riverdale Park/University Park on — best workout spot. Now if Greenbelt can't win that one, then Bing can't sing. Okay, I'm dating myself — but then there aren't a lot of single men in Greenbelt.

College Park, ahem, had 40 people vote on the best breakfast spot, Riverdale Park/University Park had 20 voters, and Hyattsville had seven. So if we get the same five votes next week, Greenbelt will lose by default.

And there haint no reason for us to go down on that one, to get all Li'l Abner on you.

This, my friends, is called shamelessly egging you on.
