Big and Boa-dacious in Greenbelt

Julie Caldwell brought Spot the boa constrictor to Greenbelt PetSmart, where she works as a cashier. Spot did not appear easily rattled, despite meeting new folks and the noisy wonderment they expressed at seeing her.

Spot spent her time draped around the necks of Julie and her son, Michael, looking quite at home.

Spot has known Julie from the time Julie was 10, when her father died. Before then, Spot was her dad's companion. All told, the bodacious boa is 23 years old, Caldwell said.

Though she was standing in front of the cages in PetSmart Friday, Caldwell made it clear her boa is not for sale. She said she had only brought Spot in to visit with her co-workers.
