Reel and Meal Honors Martin Luther King

Reel & Meal at the New Deal will show “The House We Live In” at 7 p.m. on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King's birthday.

An optional vegan buffet meal is available for $13 beforehand at 6:30 p.m., cooked by the own Karim and Maria. Admission to the film is free.

This month's film makes the case that banks, lending agencies and other institutions have manipulated home mortgage lending to make it difficult for minorities to buy homes and amass wealth.

It is the third part of the PBS series "RACE: The Power of Illusion." Although Greenbelt is not mentioned, some early footage of it (from "The City") is shown.

Dianne Lyday and Nora Howell from Baltimore Racial Justice Action will lead the discussion that will follow the film.

Information on this event was provided by Real and Meal at the New Deal.
