Explore Emergency Preparedness in Greenbelt
Do you know what to do when a gas main breaks, weather events threaten or hazardous materials spill? Greenbelt's Explorations Unlimited will cover how to prepare for emergencies ahead of time.

Explorations Unlimited will explore emergency preparedness from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at the Greenbelt Community Center in Room 114. Guest speaker Amber Dionne from the Prince George's Office of Emergency Management will discuss how to prepare for emergencies ahead of time.
Many people have an "it won't happen to me" mentality when it comes to emergency preparedness and associate preparedness with catastrophic events, according to an Explorations Unlimited press release. Thus, they think their chances of being affected are low, it states.

But emergencies such as house fires, hazardous materials spills, gas and water main breaks, power outages and weather events can happen at any time, Explorations Unlimited warns.
Preparing for emergencies that are not catastrophic will also help citizens prepare for larger-scale events and disasters, Explorations Unlimited says, adding "The time to prepare is now—before an emergency or disaster occurs."
