Free Vintage Film at Old Greenbelt Theatre Thursday

The 75th Anniversary Committee invites movie-goers to enjoy Bob Hope, W.C. Fields, Dorothy Lamour and Martha Raye in "Big Broadcast of 1938".

 to the 91-minute comedy, romance, and musical—that is known today for being the film that introduced Hope. Its Oscar-winning song, "Thanks for the Memory" went on to become Hope's signature tune. It's part of the 1937 Vintage Film Festival.

The film pits two big luxury ocean liners against each other in a race from New York to Cherbourg. Bob Hope plays a broadcaster whose fiancée and three ex-wives are on board one of the liners with him.

"The film is part of an era of wonderful nonsense on screen that was never concerned with any message of significance, just with providing the public with good entertainment," according to a review on IMDb. "And with the cast of this film, it's guaranteed to be good entertainment."
