Greenbelt Man Seriously Injured in HoCo Crash: Police

A Greenbelt man was driving a vehicle that hit three other cars in Howard County Friday night, police said.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD – Two drivers were taken to shock trauma with serious injuries after a crash involving multiple vehicles Friday night on Baltimore National Pike/US 40, according to the Howard County Police Department.

The crash happened at about 6:05 p.m. when a Chevy 2500 went out of its lane and hit a Ford Expedition on Route 40 west before Marriottsville Road, police said.

Next, the Chevy went through a red light and hit two other vehicles, a Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Compass, according to police.

The driver of the Chevy—Michael Daury, 45, of Greenbelt—was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries and was in stable condition Friday night, police said.

Police said the cause of the crash was under investigation and no charges have been filed Friday evening.

The 37-year-old Woodbine man driving the Jeep Compass was listed as stable at shock trauma with serious injuries, according to police.

Officials said the 48-year-old West Friendship man driving the Ford Expedition and the 51-year-old Woodstock man driving the Jeep Wrangler were both uninjured.

For four hours, Route 40 was closed at Turf Valley Road/Marriottsville Road, according to officials, who said that Marriottsville Road was closed between Resort Road and MD 144/Frederick Road.
