Murder-Suicide Under Investigation By PG County Police
Prince George's County Police are investigating a fatal shooting and suicide that took place Friday night in Lanham.
LANHAM, MD — Homicide detectives from the Prince George's County Police Department are investigating a fatal shooting and suicide that took place Friday night in Lanham, according to a police release.
Following a preliminary investigation, PGPD determined the deceased suspect shot and killed a woman and wounded a second woman before turning the weapon on himself. Police identified the deceased suspect as Kevin Darryl Ballard 54, of the 9000 block of Walkerton Drive, and the deceased victim as Tai Hilliard, 23. According to police, Ballard was in a relationship with a relative of Hilliard. All three individuals involved in the incident lived in the home on Walkerton Drive.
Around 11:15 p.m., PGPD officers were dispatched to the residence on Walkerton Drive for the report of a shooting. Arriving on the scene, they found both Ballard and Hilliard suffering from gunshot wounds. They were both pronounced dead on the scene. The second victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, where she remains.
