PGCPS Scholars Named National Merit Scholarship Program Finalists
Five Prince George County Public School scholars will join the national competition for 7,500 awards,

Five Eleanor Roosevelt High School students were named semifinalists in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Abel Banko, Victor Baumann, Stella Hurtt, Shilpa Ray and Christine Zhang will join the national competition for 7,500 awards, totaling more than $33 million.

Approximately 16,000 students were selected as semifinalists out of a pool of 1.6 million, representing 22,000 high schools across the nation. Semifinalists were chosen based on their performance on the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
Finalists will be announced in the spring and will be selected based on their skills, accomplishments and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
