Sponsors announced for Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day Celebration in Greenbelt

Third year for Hospice of the Chesapeake event

As Hospice of the Chesapeake makes its final preparations for its third celebration of the state of Maryland’s Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day, the staff and volunteers of the nonprofit’s We Honor Veterans Committee wish to acknowledge the generosity and commitment of the program’s 2017 sponsors.

Four Star Partners are NewDay USA, The Greg and Susan Walker Family Foundation and The Walter and Virginia Humphreys Family. Its Three Star Partner is Charter Financial Group. Two Star Partners are GEICO Central Maryland, Regent Healthcare and The TowerCares Foundation and One Star Partners are Corporate Office Properties Trust and Ridgeback Communications.

Each year, the nonprofit cares for more than 2,800 hospice patients, of which approximately 25 percent are veterans. As partners in the We Honor Veterans program, these sponsors help fund several programs designed to meet the specific needs of those who have served in the military. These are programs not covered by Medicare or private insurance that Hospice of the Chesapeake believes are critical to the end-of-life care it provides. They include the gifts to veterans with advanced illness when Honor Salutes are performed at their bedside, a Veterans Day celebration and the Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day event, which is free for all Vietnam Veterans and their guest to attend.
