What's Up With the Green Line: Weekend of November 4 - 6

Green liners catch a break this weekend, if they have no transfers planned.

After major work on the Green Line last weekend, this week Green catches a break. But if you’re transferring to the Red Line there’s some major track work going on that might affect your commute. There’s also Orange and Blue line work going on between two stations that may affect Green Line transfers.

Green Line – No work announced

Red Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Buses will replace Red Line trains between Glenmont and Fort Totten stations.
  • Takoma, Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton and Glenmont stations will be closed while Metro rebuilds track, renovates station platforms and performs other work.
  • Free shuttle buses will operate between Glenmont, Wheaton, Forest Glen, Silver Spring, Takoma and Fort Totten. Metro recommends customers using shuttle buses allow 30 minutes additional travel time.

Orange and Blue Line – 10 p.m. Friday through closing on Sunday

  • Orange and Blue Line trains will share one track between McPherson Square and Foggy Bottom stations as Metro performs rail work.
  • Metro recommends customers allow about 20 minutes of additional travel time.
