Woman Raped at Knifepoint After Leaving Greenbelt Mall

The sexual assault happened Monday night in a wooded area in the 5900 block of Cherrywood Terrace after the victim left Beltway Plaza.

GREENBELT, MD — A woman was was raped at knifepoint after she left the mall in Greenbelt Monday night, police say.

According to Greenbelt Police, the woman was approached by a man while she was shopping at Beltway Plaza, 6000 Greenbelt Road. The woman left the mall about 9:45 p.m. and the man continued to start a conversation with the woman, who walked across Breezewood Drive toward a house.

Authorities say the man returned, and walked with the woman for a while.

The suspect then took out a knife, pulled the woman into a wooded area in the 5900 block of Cherrywood Terrace and sexually assaulted her, WTOP reports.

The suspect is described as a man about 5-feet tall with a light complexion and muscular build. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a pink emblem on the front, dark pants and gray sneakers with a green trim.
