5 Havre de Grace Students Named 2020 Carson Scholars

The Havre de Grace students will each receive a scholarship in recognition of their academic and humanitarian work.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Several Havre de Grace students received the honor of being named 2020 Carson Scholars. The scholarship program recognizes students who have a track record of academic excellence and participation in community service.

Students in 4th through 11th grades were eligible for the honor, and they had to be nominated by a current educator. Only one student from each school could be nominated.

Here are the first-time Carson Scholars from Havre de Grace for 2020:

  • Emma Floyd, Grade: 5; Havre de Grace Elementary School
  • Anya Kutsy, Grade: 5; Meadowvale Elementary School
  • Katherine Weber, Grade: 8; Havre de Grace Middle School

Carson Scholars receive a $1,000 college scholarship award, an Olympic-sized medal and a trophy for their school.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and humanitarian qualities without regard to financial need, ethnicity, creed or religion.

Recognized Carson Scholars have renewed their Carson Scholar status by maintaining high academic standards and a strong commitment to their communities.

Here are the recognized Carson Scholars for 2020 from Havre de Grace:

  • Faith Andreen, Grade: 6; Havre de Grace Middle School
  • Gabriella Vega, Grade: 12; Havre de Grace High School

Carson Scholars must have a minimum GPA of 3.75 and display humanitarian qualities through community service.
