Boaters Rescued Near Tydings Park, Officials Say

A helicopter hoisted two boaters to safety off the shores of Havre de Grace Saturday, according to officials.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Two people were rescued after their boat got stuck in the water Saturday morning near Tydings Park, according to officials.

At 11:55 a.m., the Susquehanna Hose Company reported it was working to rescue the pair from a boat stuck about 300 yards off the shore of Park Island near Tydings Park.

The hose company collaborated with the Harford County Department of Emergency Services special operations team, Perry Point Fire Department and Water Witch Volunteer Fire Company in the response.

Because the water was too shallow for boats to get through, authorities said they called for the Maryland State Police medevac, which hoisted the boaters to safety.

After being evaluated by emergency medical services, both refused care, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company. By 12:35 p.m., officials said the rescue was complete.
