HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A popular burger joint from Baltimore is opening up in Havre de Grace later this year. Abbey Burger Bistro will take over the Rodgers House Tavern location, according to SouthBmore.com.

According to Rodger's House Tavern, the building on North Washington Street was for sale.

"It was not offered to us," the restaurant posted on its Facebook page. Rodgers House Tavern would not have wanted to purchase the structure regardless because "the building is in need of a lot of work," according to the post.

But don't worry, tavern fans — the goal is to reopen in a new location.

"We do hope that a fresh start is just what we need," Rodgers House Tavern shared earlier this March. "The plan is to continue to keep Wayne's dream alive."

Abbey Burger Bistro has two locations in Baltimore — in Fells Point and Federal Hill — as well as one in Ocean City.

The plan for Havre de Grace is to open before 2020, depending on renovations, which according to SouthBmore.com include adding more windows to the front of the restaurant and opening up the space, plus creating an open kitchen and menu with burger and seafood offerings.

Abbey Burger Bistro was recognized by MSN as having the best burger in Maryland for its Baltimore burger, which consists of Angus beef topped with crab dip, bacon and cheddar cheese.
