Closings For New Year's Day In Havre de Grace 2018

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – Government offices will be closed in Havre de Grace on Monday, Jan. 1. Here's a rundown of what's closed for New Year's Day 2018. We have also listed some ideas for things to do to ring in the new year.

Regular curbside collection will occur for yard waste, trash and recyclables this week, according to the city of Havre de Grace. Christmas trees do not have to go into bags. There will be no bulk collections this week.

Havre de Grace City Hall will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

The Havre de Grace City Council will meet on Tuesday, Jan. 2.

Harford Community College will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

Harford County government offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

Harford County Public Library will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

Harford County Public Schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

It's a federal holiday, so federal and state government offices will be closed.

Post offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 1.

Here Are Some Things To Do

A park ranger will take hikers on a guided 2-mile round-trip walk at Susquehanna State Park on New Year's Day. Meet at Fisherman's Park below the Conowingo Dam, 2569 Shures Landing Road, Darlington, MD 21034. Wear clothing appropriate for the weather and bring water for the hike. Dogs on leashes are welcome. The event starts at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. Call Susquehanna State Park at 410-557-7994 for more information.

Harford County Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a wildlife hike at Swan Harbor. Meet on Timber Lane and traverse various habitats to view birds and other wildlife at the site. Wear clothing and footwear appropriate for mud and snow. The hike lasts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 1. A donation of $5 is appreciated. Call 443-333-0453 for more information.
