CECIL COUNTY, MD — Three people died and several others were injured in crashes Monday on Cecil County highways, according to Maryland State Police. All three crashes involved tractor-trailers, authorities reported.

The day began with a tractor-trailer crash that required the closure of Interstate 95 north at North East. From about 3 to 9 a.m., officials said I-95 was closed to northbound traffic before the exit for MD 272/North East Road.

During that closure, a secondary collision occurred on I-95 north that was fatal.
