Flood Watch Issued for Harford, Cecil Counties

Melting snow and ice may lead to flooding in some areas across the region, according to National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for parts of Maryland from noon Wednesday to 5 p.m. Thursday.

A flood watch means there is potential for flooding based on current forecasts, and those in flood-prone areas should be prepared, according to the weather service.

Melting snow and periods of heavy rain may flood low-lying and poorly drained areas. Ice in small streams may also increase the chances of flooding, according to the weather service.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for up to an inch of rain, with some places—particularly along the I-95 corridor—potentially receiving up to 2 inches of rain, the weather service reports.
