Franklin Street Store Closes, Plans Reincarnation

Simplicity closed and a new store will take its place by spring, owner says.

An antique boutique on Franklin Street closed this month, but owner Stephen Formwalt says the space will not be dormant for long.

“...we have closed Simplicity for good, but we have not been sitting still,” Formwalt wrote Friday.

Simplicity closed on Jan. 15 after four years, according to Formwalt. The store sold antiques, art and jewelry.

Soon, the space at 454 Franklin Street will be restocked with a new name and new products.

“We are creating a new gift shop called ’Blue Heron,’” Formwalt said, which will be ”a new creative gift shop.”

The Blue Heron will open in March.

As for Simplicity, he said: “Thank you all for liking us, visiting us and buying our vintage pieces over the past four yeas. It was just not enough to sustain us.”
