Funeral Service Set For Former Havre de Grace Mayor
Havre de Grace will say goodbye to former Mayor Phillip Barker, who passed away July 17.
Phillip Barker died July 17. He was 84.
Barker was born in Salisbury; served the U.S. Army Security Agency as a Russian linguist in Japan during the Korean war era; earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of Maryland in business and public administration; worked for more than 30 years at J.M. Huber Corporation; and was elected Harford County councilman, Havre de Grace city councilman and later mayor of the city of Havre de Grace, according to his obituary.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, at Zellman Funeral Home.

A funeral will take place at noon on Friday, July 26, at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. Those in attendance are asked to wear their favorite Disney memorabilia, including Mickey Mouse. "It will make him smile," according to the obituary.
A reception at the Havre de Grace Elks Club will follow the funeral service.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may go to the Havre de Grace Maritime Museum, 100 Lafayette Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
Barker will be buried next to his wife "Charlie" in Harford Memorial Gardens, according to his obituary.
