Havre de Grace 4th Of July Fireworks Status Change Announced
The city of Havre de Grace has changed the plan for fireworks on Saturday, July 6.
UPDATE: The Havre de Grace fireworks are canceled for Saturday, July 6, and will be postponed. Police announced the cancellation at 8:19 p.m., as lightning was striking and torrential rain was falling around the city.
"Due to the current weather, the Havre de Grace fireworks are canceled. Please be careful when exiting the city," the Havre de Grace Police Department said in a statement.
After 9 p.m., city officials reported the fireworks show would be rescheduled.

UPDATE: Makeup Fireworks Date Set For Havre de Grace After Rainout
"Due to the weather, this evening’s fireworks have been postponed," the city of Havre de Grace said in a statement at 9:09 p.m. "We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work with the firework company and Mother Nature to find another date."

Previously, the plan had been for the show to go off around 9:15 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. This was the situation at 9 p.m. around Concord Point Lighthouse, where the fireworks show had been planned:
PREVIOUS REPORT — Havre de Grace is celebrating Independence Day on Saturday, July 6. The events include a parade, concerts and fireworks.

The Havre de Grace Independence Day Commission has a full day of festivities planned.
- First the parade will get the day started, beginning at 2 p.m.
- Next, the Maryland Military Band concert will take place at Concord Point at 7 p.m. It's a free show open to all. The Amish Outlaws will perform, in Hutchins Park, where tickets are required for admission. That concert is also at 7 p.m.
- Finally, the fireworks will go off after dark, around 9:15 or 9:30 p.m., organizers say.

This year’s parade theme is “Havre de Grace Honors First Responders.”
What: Havre de Grace Independence Day Concert and Fireworks
Where: Concord Point Park, 352 Commerce Street, Havre de Grace
When: 7 to 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 6. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m.
The Maryland Military Band will play patriotic music in the park.
What: Amish Outlaws Fireworks Concert
Where: Hutchins Park, 100 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace
When: 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 6. Music starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the gate.
Before the parade, city officials advised people not to set up any blankets, chairs, coolers, canopies, tents or other items that would reserve a location to view the parade until 8 a.m. on Saturday. If these items were set out before 8 a.m., they were removed and may be picked up Monday, July 8, at the Havre de Grace Department of Public Works. As of Friday afternoon, Police Chief Teresa Walter said nobody had staked out parade spots yet, and to her knowledge, nothing had been picked up by public works officials.
