Havre de Grace Art Show: Raffles To Raise Money For Scholarships
With help from the community, the Havre de Grace Art Show plans to fund scholarships for area students.
HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — This week the Havre de Grace Art Show is going virtual. For 2020, the event sponsored by Soroptimist International of Havre de Grace plans to showcase artists online.
Traditionally, the art show has brought artists, food vendors and entertainers in addition to thousands of visitors to Tydings Park.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the show's organizers decided the summer event would not be possible in its traditional form.

In addition to showcasing local art, the Havre de Grace Art Show, now in its 57th year, enables Soroptimist International of Havre de Grace to raise money for college scholarships. In an attempt to deliver on that promise and to help exhibitors, art show organizers say they have been working on a virtual solution since late May.
This weekend the Havre de Grace Art Show plans to feature artists, entertainers, food vendors and local businesses on its Facebook page, Instagram account and Twitter account.

Several vendors have donated items that will be raffled off this week to raise money for scholarships for spring 2021.
"There has been just an outpouring of generosity from our exhibitors and local businesses," Havre de Grace Art Show Coordinator Cindy Height said.
The raffles run through Sunday, Aug. 16.
Among the raffle items are a necklace from Moon and Sea Creations, a painting kit from JoRetro, a beer and dining package from Hopkins Brewery, a rainbows and unicorns clock from Stephens & Stephens and more.
While the virtual art show is slated for Saturday and Sunday, there are pop-up raffles before then. Visit the Havre de Grace Art Show Facebook page for details.
"Everyone tells us how much they look forward to the show each year in the park," Height said. "Our plan is to return to the park next year, and we thank everyone who has contributed.”
