Havre de Grace Man Runs The Boston Marathon 2019
The 2019 Boston Marathon is underway Monday, and one runner from Havre de Grace is among the participants.

BOSTON, MD — One runner from Havre de Grace was among the thousands who participated in the 2019 Boston Marathon. Athletes took to the streets of New England, following a route through Ashland, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton and Brookline before concluding in Boston.
Thunderstorms had threatened the Boston area, but the rain mostly stopped and it was about 61 degrees, with calm wins and overcast skies.
The 123rd Boston Marathon Monday featured the closest finish in 30 years, as Lawrence Cherono — a Kenyan running in the marathon for the first time — edged out Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia by 2 seconds. It was the closest finish since 1988.

The pair was neck-and-neck headed to the finish line on Boylston Street when Desisa's legs appeared to give out, and he stumbled behind Cherono, who won with a time of 2 hours, 7 minutes and 57 seconds.
