On the heels of Black Friday, many shops are offering specials for Small Business Saturday.

First observed in 2010, Small Business Saturday is designed to encourage holiday shoppers to patronize brick-and- mortar businesses that are small and local. American Express sponsors the event, which is now in its fifth year of driving shoppers to local businesses the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
