HdG Decoy-Making Family Featured In Short Film
A video about what it means to be a waterfowler shone the spotlight on Havre de Grace.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — One Havre de Grace decoy dynasty was featured in a recent video by Ducks Unlimited. The Jobes family gave a window into the sport of waterfowling in a short clip created by the nonprofit.
Ducks Unlimited, a nonprofit dedicated to wetland conservation, shot a series of short films about waterfowling. The episode "Carving the Chesapeake" looked into the sport's history in Havre de Grace.
The six-minute video captures a snapshot of the special skills possessed by the Jobes family, which range from hunting in the water using duck calls to carving decoys to use for the hunt itself.

"This area is famous for gunning, famous for decoys, decoy makers," said decoy maker and waterfowl hunter Charles Jobes. "To make a gunning decoy, people don't realize how long it takes. They think you can make a decoy like you make a donut. It doesn't happen that way. It takes time."
