HdG Ice Festival 2020: Schedule Of Events, Hours, Attractions

The Havre de Grace Ice Festival will feature food, characters, ice carvings, s'mores and more.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Ice Festival is set for this weekend. From ice carving to a soup sale, here are all the events you can expect to see at the second annual ice festival.

Sponsored by Visit Harford and WGHM Gold, the Havre de Grace Ice Festival is slated for Saturday and Sunday.

The event will go on regardless of the weather, unless there is lightning, a blizzard or dangerous winds.

Here's the full schedule, according to organizers:

SATURDAY, Jan. 18

  • 11 a.m. — Happy Feet Two at the opera house, 121 N. Union Ave.; $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, free for kids under 13
  • 1 p.m. — Corn hole tournament at Coakley's Yard, 406 St. John St.
  • 2–6 p.m. — Build a stuffed Olaf at The Art Rooms, 116 N. Washington St.; free
  • 2–6 p.m. — Elsa and Sven meet and greet at Elsa's House, North Washington Street
  • 3–7 p.m. — Chili cook-off, various; $5
  • 3 p.m. — Live ice carving, Pennington Avenue
  • 4–6 p.m. — Live band at WHGM Gold, Union Avenue at Franklin Street

SUNDAY, Jan. 19

  • 12 and 3 p.m. — Live Elsa and Friends show at the opera house, 121 N. Union Ave.; sold out
  • 12–3 p.m. — Ice train, downtown area; free
  • 12–4 p.m. — Wood carver demonstrations, Vincenti Decoys, 353 Pennington Ave.
  • 12 p.m. — Winter-themed yoga class for all ages at Beach Bee Yoga, 450 Franklin St.
  • 1 p.m. — "Lord of the Wings" hot wing-eating contest, MacGregor's, 331 St. John St.; $10
  • 1 p.m. — Live ice carving at Rochambeau Plaza, Washington at St. John St.
  • 1–4 p.m. — Soup sale at Weedon-Elliott VFW 8126, 300 N. Lodge Lane
  • 2 p.m. — Ice Prince and Princess Parade, register at information booth by 1:45 p.m.

A kickoff party will be from 7–9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, at the Vandiver Inn, 301 S Union Ave.

The festival will be 2–8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, and noon–4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19.

Throughout the festival, there will be additional attractions:

  • Artist demos at The Arts Room, 307 St. John St.
  • Characters like the monkey man and fire eater downtown
  • Children's winter wonderland cake decorating class at Sweet Eats Cakes, 311 St. John St., from 10 a.m.–noon Sunday; get tickets – $36
  • Children's winter wonderland cake pop/cupcake decorating class at Sweet Eats Cakes, 311 St. John St., from 1–2:30 p.m. Sunday; get tickets — $28
  • Craft beer and cake tasting at La Banque de Fleuve, 321 St John St.
  • Face painting at La Banque de Fleuve, 321 St. John St.
  • Fire pits
  • Food trucks
  • Free s'mores and marshmallow roasting at VFW 8126, Franklin Street at Lodge Lane
  • Hot toddy garden, 210 N. Washington St. (Saturday)
  • Ice graffiti wall on Franklin Street
  • Train rides
