HdG Parade, 'Holly Jolly' First Friday To Light Up Downtown

Downtown Havre de Grace will be getting into the spirit Friday with a family friendly celebration, holiday market, parade and tree lighting.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The city of Havre de Grace will usher in the holiday season with its annual Christmas parade and holiday tree lighting Friday on Saint John Street. This year's festivities are being combined with an event called "Holly Jolly First Friday." Essentially it will be a holiday market spreading cheer around downtown Havre de Grace.

Pennington Avenue will host a Christmas market with food vendors and a fire pit from 4 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1.

Franklin Street will be filled with live donated trees that have been decorated as well as a Toys for Tots canned food drive. Crafts for children, a fire pit, s'mores and a hot chocolate bar will be available.

The annual Havre de Grace Holiday Parade will kick off at 6 p.m. from Saint John to Washington Street. The mayor and Santa will light the city's holiday tree. Stilt walkers, the Havre de Grace High School chamber singers and 42nd Street Carolers will add to the festivities, and some stores will be staying open late.

Santa Land will welcome guests on North Washington Street who want to share their wishes with Mr. Claus.
