Perryville Murder Suspect Arrested In Havre de Grace: Police
A DUI traffic stop in Havre de Grace ended with a murder charge for a Perryville man, police said.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Officers who stopped a suspected impaired driver Sunday night in Havre de Grace ended up snagging a man wanted for murder, according to authorities.
Sergio Rodriguez Jr., 55, of the 300 block of Broad Street in Perryville, was charged with first- and second-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault, court records show.
Havre de Grace police officers stopped Rodriguez before 8:30 p.m. Sunday and arrested him on suspicion of impaired driving, officials said.

During the traffic stop, police in Perryville were processing a crime scene where his estranged girlfriend had been found deceased.
Jimmie G. Porter, 43, of Perryville, was found dead on the floor of his apartment on Broad Street just before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. She had trauma to the upper body, and items that may have been used as weapons in the assault were recovered at the scene, although investigators declined to say what they were.

Porter's relative and friend went looking for her when she did not show up for work, and they found her unresponsive at the apartment in the 300 block of Broad Street, authorities said.
Officers from the Perryville Police Department were called to the apartment on Broad Street before 7:30 p.m. Sunday, police said, and she was deceased.
Homicide investigators began searching for Rodriguez, who was not at the apartment when officers had first arrived.
As he was being processed for DUI at the Havre de Grace Police Department, Maryland State Police homicide investigators took him into custody and transferred him to the North East Barrack.
Rodriguez is slated for a bail review hearing at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday in Cecil County District Court. He is currently being held without bail.
