Severe Storms Detected Near Harford County
Wind damage to siding, trees, power lines and roofs is possible, as is damage to vehicles, officials said.
CECIL COUNTY, MD — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for part of Cecil County Tuesday. The National Weather Service issued the warning after radar detected a severe thunderstorm near Havre de Grace, officials said.
The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for northeastern Cecil County in Maryland and northwestern New Castle County in Delaware.
"Move indoors immediately," the National Weather Service advised those in the warned areas. People should go to the lowest interior room and in particular, if they hear thunder, stay inside.

At 5:13 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was detected over Bay View, 7 miles northeast of Havre de Grace, that was moving east at 25 mph, the National Weather Service reported.
Radar showed 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail accompanying the storm.

Frequent cloud-to-ground lightning is also occurring, the warning stated.

These locations may be impacted, according to the warning: Wilmington, Newark, Elkton, Elsmere, New Castle, North East, Delaware City, Charlestown, Newport, Barksdale, Stanton, Glasgow, Bear, Port Penn, Brantwood, Wilmington Manor, Bay View, Saint Georges, Mount Pleasant and Woodlawn.
A strong thunderstorm was also detected at 5:11 p.m. Tuesday near Stewartstown, Pennsylvania, that was moving east at 30 mph.
Cloud-to-ground lightning was occurring, and pea-sized hail was possible, officials said. Lightning may strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm, according to the National Weather Service.
Pylesville, Darlington, Cardiff, Norrisville, Street, Rocks, Scarboro and Whiteford may be impacted, according to weather officials, who advised staying inside.
